Now known as the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, the Antipolo Cathedral is the first international shrine in the country, the third in Asia, and the 11th in the world.

The Holy Father Pope Francis declared the popular pilgrimage site as an international shrine on March 25, 2023. The formal declaration ceremony will take place on Jan. 26, 2024.

Antipolo Bishop Ruperto C. Santos said part of their preparations is to spread devotion on the revered Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage here in the country and abroad.

“We should be proud of our Mother. Let us spread devotion to her in the country and abroad where I hope novenas to Nuestra Señora dela Paz y Buenviaje will be celebrated. I laud our rector Fr. Reynante Tolentino’s efforts to bring the image of Our Lady in other countries,” said Bishop Santos over Radio Veritas.

“We also continue to hold the Hapag in Maria in parishes under the jurisdiction of the diocese. The Hapag is not only a feeding program, it also provides the poor and the needy with livelihood opportunities and scholarship for their children,” Bishop Santos added.

The Church leader said the diocese will help the indigent families to live with dignity as a human being, providing them not only with food but also, means of livelihood and education.
