The fuel products of leading oil firm Petron Corporation have been rated ‘top consumer choice’, based on a recent survey carried out by Hongkong-based consumer intelligence firm Standard Insights.
Taking cue from that survey outcome, Petron has been bestowed the ‘Consumer Choice Awards’ by the Hongkong firm, with it emphasizing that “Filipino consumers aged 18 and above prefer Petron over other oil companies, as it emerged the overall fuel brand of choice while dominating across categories.”
Petron President and CEO Ramon S. Ang asserted that “awards like this inspire us to continue striving for excellence and sustainability in every aspect of our business.”
Parallel to its top-tier ranking as fuel brand preference for customers, Petron similarly retained its stature as the deregulated downstream oil industry’s leading player, having been the holder of largest market share in the sector.
A recent report of the Department of Energy (DOE) showed that Petron maintained its overall lead versus industry competitors with market share of 23.19%; and it is also a dominant player in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) business segment with 23.66% share in the pie.
It was expounded in the survey result of Standard Insights that Petron logged 45.7% customer preference rating, thus, it “secured the title of the best overall retail oil and gas brand in the Philippines by a resounding margin, cementing its position as the preferred choice of consumers.”
Beyond that, the Filipino-led oil company had been voted “as the most affordable fuel brand,” primarily garnering a score of 30.3% when it comes to the ‘price and affordability’ category of the award.
Petron’s extensive retail network similarly allowed it to rule the roost on “accessibility’ index, having cornered 53.6% of the votes.
The San Miguel-affiliated oil company also scored high on sustainability with 34.1% share in the consumers’ poll turnout; while on the ‘branding and marketing’ sphere, it garnered incredible 47.9% rating.
The Consumer Choice Awards of Standard Insights has been intended “to recognize the best products and services based on consumer data.” By far, the survey also covered other oil companies in the Philippines – including Shell, Chevron Philippines for its Caltex brand, Phoenix Petroleum, Unioil and the other players in the industry.
