The Philippine music scene is blessed to have Side A continuously  putting out new songs, properly recorded and keeping up with trends without losing its identity. While others of their stature resort to being mere nostalgia acts, they choose to still craft fresh tracks in light of changing musical landscapes and audience preferences. That is part of their enduring legacy.

The veteran recording and live act behind classics such as  “Forevermore,” “Hold On,” “So Many Questions,” is asserting it each time they drop a new single. As always, they don't disappoint.

Side A's new single "Caught In A Daze," released on Oct. 20, is a recording bliss showcasing the band's knack for pop and grip for excellent band synergy.

"I’m caught in a daze and it’s amazing," says the first line to the chorus.

With its steadily atmospheric arrangement that rightly captures the vibe of what a Side A classic should be, the song written by bass player Ned Esguerra promises to be a good addition to a catalogue that has stood the test of time.

Ned, who mentioned that his wife Rhia inspired his writing, shares, “The central or key message of the song is about being in a state of endless joy and unbridled bliss spurred on or ignited by whimsical thoughts of appreciation for one's significant other. The words and music try to convey an individual's overwhelming sense of happiness being in a living relationship with someone he or she sees as being almost too good to be true.”

The tailend of the chorus seems to reflect on how the band has kept its love for making music intact despite personnel changes: "And though life’s not the same as before, I never want to change it ‘coz I’m caught in a daze, and I’m so amazed by you."

"Caught In A Daze" is arranged and produced by Side A's lead guitarist Leevon Cailao, with Yubs Esperat taking lead vocal duties.

The band's founding member and keyboardist Naldy Gonzalez, and longtime drummer Ernie Severino have remained to be a strong foundation for the band’s sound, as manifested on steady beat and familiar vocal harmonies.

The feel-good song establishes the power of easy-listening music right from the get go, which Side A is known for. It's a testament to how the band has confidently navigated the music scene that keeps changing amid artists coming from new generations with different artistic preferences and mentality. They are never rattled, not even with some of their classic line-up members going solo or retiring. Side A has always been about the group and what it offers.

Small wonder it is enjoying the support of Icons Music, a division of Widescope Entertainment led by a trio of music scene and pop culture experts, namely, executive producer Vic de Vera, supervising producer Neil Gregorio, and A&R coordinator Ebe Dancel, who is a music icon himself.

"Caught In a Daze" is mixed and mastered by Boyet Aquino who recorded track parts with Benjo Casaljay at a recording place called Studio Z. You bet the song is technically fully covered from Side A to Studio Z.

Side A’s latest track is clear and composed in its message, with the verse saying, "It’s not every night we get to hold each other tight/ But when we do it makes everything alright/ So I wouldn’t change a single thing."
