Fresh from the success of "Nanahimik Ang Gabi," Rein Entertainment announced a few upcoming projects to watch.

During lunch at the Rein Entertainment office in Quezon City last Wednesday, Director Lino Cayetano mentioned that the focus of the company is on their latest project called "Elevator" which stars Kylie Verzosa, Paulo Avelino, and Singaporean actor Adrian Pang. It was written and directed by Philip King. Viva Communications and Cineko Productions are co-producers here with Rein Entertainment.

"Elevator" follows the story of a lowly elevator boy who falls in love with his investor’s mistress and forces him to choose between his love for her or his dreams for a better future after they are trapped inside the elevator of a hotel-casino complex.

The same movie features the world of migrant workers. With its international ensemble and a Singaporean co-producer, Dogma Films, "Elevator" aims to gain local and international recognition while resonating with audiences worldwide.

“We made a deal with Viva na sila ang distributor. So, uupo pa kami with them kung paano nila ire-release. Gusto namin, may premiere night dito, and may premiere night din sana sa Singapore. Kasi, kalahati ng cast ng Elevator, Singaporean," Cayetano said.

King praised Verzosa, Avelino, and Pang for their professionalism on the set of "Elevator."

"Sobang okay sila katrabaho. They are professional and naging smooth naman ang working relationship namin," King said. "We hope moviegoers will see another side of Kylie in this movie."

(They are so good to work with. They are professional, and our working relationship has been smooth.)

Cayetano also revealed that Rein Entertainment plans to adapt Jullie Yap-Daza's Etiquette for Mistresses (1993) into a series. This differs from the movie Etiquette for Mistresses (2015), starring Kris Aquino, Claudine Barretto, Iza Calzado, Cheena Crab, and Kim Chiu, directed by Chito S. Roño.

“Next year pa po yun. Malayo sa film ni Direk Chito. Ang kuwento, anthology. Every episode, ibang mag-asawa saka ibang mistress," said Cayetano.

(That's next year. It's far from Director Chito's film. The story, anthology. Every episode, a different couple then a different mistress.)

Rein Entertainment is a boutique creative house that aims to create and produce engaging stories that inspire conversation and resonate with today's audience.

The company is spearheaded by three writers/directors/producers - Shugo Praico, Lino Cayetano, and Philip King - veterans from the industry who have worked in Philippine mainstream film and television for over 30 years.

As individuals, they have developed, written, directed, and been involved in some of the biggest hits in local film and television.

"As champions of original content, the company employs an innovative business model that fosters creativity and innovation among writers and creators and actively builds a portfolio of original concepts ready for production.

"This allows Rein a bank of diverse, unique, and relevant narratives that cater to contemporary tastes and pioneer Filipino stories that are yet to be seen," said Cayetano.

Coupled with the company’s heavy research and end-to-end production process, all concepts are brought to life with intention and excellence.

Since its inception in 2017, Rein Entertainment has produced critically acclaimed narrative series and movies that have served as pioneers in global platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, Tencent, and iFLIX.

From the socio-political thriller Bagman, to the LGBTQ+ themed romantic comedy Betcin, and the suspense thriller crime political film Nanahimik Ang Gabi (A Silent Night) Rein continues to push narratives towards real Filipino stories and representation – immersing viewers into the unseen, underrepresented, and uncomfortable," Cayetano added.

Just recently, Rein Entertainment’s Nanahimik Ang Gabi (A Silent Night) won big at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) National Round 2023, securing four prestigious awards -- Best Feature Film (Rein Entertainment), Best Screenplay (Shugo Praico), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Mon Confiado). It even landed the most coveted Best Actress in a Leading Role (Heaven Peralejo).

Rein Entertainment also won a national award for "BetCin" in the "Best Comedy Program" category last year, making it a back-to-back win for them. In 2020, they made history with Arjo Atayde, who became the first Filipino to win "Best Actor in a Leading Role" for the series "Bagman."

In December this year, Rein Entertainment will return to Singapore for the grand finals of the AAA to represent the Philippines in multiple categories alongside GMA and ABS-CBN, two of the industry's biggest studios.

Rein Entertainment's "Nanahimik Ang Gabi" keeps its winning streak, earning an impressive total of 11 nominations at this year’s Eddys Awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Director among other categories.

Award-winning director Shugo Praico's follow-up to "Nanahimik Ang Gabi" is a horror movie titled "Caretakers," slated to go into production later this year.

“Acting piece din siya. Lahat ng dinirek ni Shugo, nananalong best actor, e. Kasi, sa Bagman, nanalo si Arjo Atayde. And then after nun, Nanahimik Ang Gabi. Si Ian, Heaven, Mon, nanalo," Cayetano said.

(It is also an acting piece. Everything that Shugo directed wins best actor. In Bagman, Arjo Atayde won. And then, in 'Nanahimik,' Ian, Heaven, and Mon won.)

He added: “So itong pangatlo, really ensemble. Dalawang pamilya. Yung 'Caretakers,' mga nagbabantay ng bahay. And then we’re likely working with Regal. Kasi yung Rein talaga, parang we like to collaborate.”

(So this third one, it's an ensemble. Two families. The 'Caretakers,' those who watch over the house. And then we're likely working with Regal. In Rein, we really like to collaborate.)
