K-pop group Monsta X’s Hyungwon to enlist in the military

Hyungwon, 29, a member of K-pop boy band Monsta X, will be enlisting in the Korean military next month.

In a letter, he announced that he will be entering the military camp on Nov. 14.

“This is the strangest feeling I've ever written. I will enlist in the military on November 14. Perhaps because I mentally prepared myself while watching the members enlist, I feel more relieved than disappointed,” said Hyungwon.

Hyungwon is the fifth member of Monsta X to enlist in the military after Shownu, Minhyuk, Jooheon, and Kihyun.

“I am someone who worries about Monbebe [Monsta X fans] every time the wind blows, but my goal is to come back as a strong and strong person who can accept any wind that blows towards Monbebe,” he said.

He added, “I am so grateful and love you. After I return, I plan to become a person who can repay the love that Monbebe gives me. Oh, and the day I will be discharged is on May 13.

Hyungwon will be serving as an active duty soldier and will be discharged from the military on May 13, 2025 after serving 18 months.
