Unity Walk

Las Piñas City's Commission on Elections (Comelec) spearheaded community–centric events on Friday, Oct. 13 aimed of fostering an atmosphere of fair play and camaraderie among Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) candidates.

A unity walk, peace covenant signing, and candidates forum were held that set a collaborative tone ahead of the BSKE scheduled on Oct. 30.

The activities, held at the University Help of Perpetual Help-System Dalta gym, was participated in by  Comelec representatives, the local police, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, religious community leaders, and the BSKE candidates.

Las Piñas police chief Col. Jaime Santos, DILG Regional Director Mary Anne Planas, and Las Piñas Comelec Election Officer Atty. Jehan L. Marohombsar joined in the Unity Walk.

The Comelec said the Peace Covenant Signing exhibited the collective commitment of the community toward a peaceful and orderly electoral process, while the Candidates’ Forum provided a platform for aspiring barangay and SK leaders to articulate their vision and engage in constructive dialogue with the community.

As Las Piñas prepares for the 2023 BSKE, the series of events is instrumental in promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and civic engagement.

The Comelec said the collaborative efforts that resulted in the Unity Walk, Peace Covenant Signing, and Candidates’ Forum, reflect the city’s proactive stance in ensuring a peaceful and informed electoral process.
