Leaving no stone unturned, Hungarian Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Titanilla Tóth made sure to intensify Hungarikum Week by bringing in experts and the best talents from Hungary to showcase her country’s wealth of traditions and cultural heritage.
“Tonight is not just about Hungary,” says Amb. Tóth. “It’s not Hungary’s national day but a
celebration of our friendship with the Philippines as we commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations.”
To bring Hungarikum closer to Filipinos, the embassy organized a week-long celebration that included a diplomatic reception with a fashion presentation, wine tasting, and a gastronomic tour featuring authentic Hungarian spices, flavors and dishes among others.
Hungarikum is a collective term that denotes a value worthy of emphasis, which represents the highest quality of Hungarian products with their characteristically Hungarian attributes, uniqueness, special nature, and quality, the ambassador adds.
Present was Zsolt V. Németh, the Hungarian prime minister’s commissioner for The Protection of The Hungarian Way of Life and National Values, who flew in from Hungary just to attend the reception.
It was also graced by the presence of Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Department of
Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), Philippine government officials, members of the business community, and other special friends of the Hungarian Embassy.
The Hungarikum Reception was held last Sept. 28 at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Manila in BGC, Taguig.
