No classes in Alfonso, Cavite after 5.0-magnitude quake

CAVITE – The municipal government of Alfonso announced the suspension of classes on Friday, Oct. 13, following a magnitude 5.0 earthquake that shook parts of Metro Manila and southern Luzon.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Randy Salamat said classes in all levels, in public and private schools, will shift to modular distance learning.

“Paki sundo na po ng mga service at parents/guardians ang mga bata sa paaralan. Iinspeksyunin na rin po ang ating mga school buildings (Transport services, parents and guardians, please pick up the kids from their schools. The school buildings will also be inspected),” Salamat wrote.

The mayor also posted the municipality’s emergency hotlines and reminded his constituents to take precautions following the earthquake.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck five kilometers southwest of Calaca, Batangas, at 8:24 a.m.

Alfonso shares its southern boundary with Batangas.
