Around 30 houses were destroyed by a fire that hit a residential area at Baseco Compound, Port Area in Manila, on Friday, Oct. 13, displacing at least 50 families.

According to the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), the fire reached the first alarm at 1:15 p.m. and escalated to the second alarm at 1:19 p.m.
Firefighters were able to put the fire under control at around 2:01 p.m. and contained it at 2:12 p.m.
The affected families temporarily took shelter at the Baseco evacuation center.
Arson investigators said no one was reported injured.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
