DTI’s Food Connect benefits 27 MSMEs in MIMAROPA

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) MIMAROPA Region partnered with the DTI Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) in aiding 27 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to achieve Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory compliance through accelerated food processing and registration program.

The 2023 Food Connect Program aims to train 27 food-MSMEs in three tracks including food safety awareness; good manufacturing practice (GMP) implementation; and compliance with Philippine FDA license requirements.

The program, initiated last Oct. 3 via Zoom session, was welcomed by DTI MIMAROPA OIC Regional Director Rodolfo Mariposque and DTI PTTC Executive Director Nelly Nita Dillera.

Last year, around 40 entrepreneurs completed the same virtual program with three obtaining both an FDA LTO and an FDA Certificate of Product Registration, while others are currently in the process of acquiring these certifications.

To prepare for market and exporting, the participating MSMEs are expected to fulfill the necessary documentation requirements aligned with internationally recognized standards.
