Parañaque gov’t launches 'Timbangan ng Bayan Center'


Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez led the launching of “Timbangan ng Bayan Center” held at SM City Sucat Hypermarket on Wednesday, Jan 18.

Olivarez said the installation of “Timbangan ng Bayan Center” is in accordance with Republic Act No. 11706, an act providing for establishments of Timbangan ng Bayan Center in public and private markets, including supermarkets, flea markets, bays, and grocery stores, nationwide.

He said the program was initiated by City Treasurer Anthony Pulmano and Consumer Welfare Office head Millan Alcaraz in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) National Capital Region (NCR)- Parañaque Field Office headed by Alona R. Raymundo.

The mayor explained that the “Timbangan ng Bayan Center” must have the necessary instruments to determine the weights and measures which shall be available, free of charge to all persons who need to confirm the accuracy of quantity or measurements of the products purchased or about to be purchased.

Olivarez said the project was also launched at different malls and supermarkets all over the city.
