“The forum aims to produce evidence-informed actions for the protection, conservation, enhancement, and regeneration of the Philippines’ ecosystems,” said DENR Secretary Antonia Loyzaga.

The two-day forum that concluded on Thursday, Jan. 19, had representatives from other government agencies, local government units (LGUs), civil society, academic, and scientific institutions, and international development partners from the three regions of the Visayas.

“Our close collaboration and partnership can yield the most significant results. This synergy will generate new capacities for everyone to protect, restore, and enhance our rich, but threatened ecosystems,” added Loyzaga.

The forum also had experts and decision-makers from all sectors in sharing knowledge, expertise, innovations, and best practices unique to the Visayas that can be used in improving the environmental framework.

DENR Undersecretary Atty. Jonas Leones emphasized that the inputs gathered will be integrated into the agency’s policies and processes via a scientific, technological, and traditional knowledge expertise.
