At least 11.38 percent of the nearly 170 million existing Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards in the Philippines have been registered according to the latest tally provided by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

This equates to a total of 19,229,285 SIMs out of 168,977,773 existing cards in the country.

Based on the tally, Smart Communications Inc. still has the highest number of registrants — 9,291,700 – as of Jan. 13. It was followed by Globe Telecom with 8,274,629 and Dito Telecommunity with 1,662,956 registered SIMs so far.

Latest SIM Registration tally (National Telecommunications Commission)

SIM Registration’s 15-day trial period – a term where glitches and technical difficulties are anticipated due to the newness of the measure – has already ended. This means that the public may now expect a more convenient registration process.

Earlier, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reminded Filipinos that the mandatory registration will end on April 26, 2023. Failure to comply with the said registration will result in the deactivation of a user’s SIM.
