City-wide celebration begins for feast of La Naval


The city- wide celebration has begun in Quezon City for the much awaited feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary La Naval de Manila.

The enthronement and blessing of the revered image will be held Friday, Sept. 29, at the Mabuhay Rotunda. 

The event will be attended by local government officials and friars from the Santo Domingo Convent. The blessing of the miraculous image will be led by Rev. Fr. Mervin G. Lomague, OP. 

 The first day of the nine day novena in honor of the Our Lady of the Rosary La Naval de Manila will also be held on Sept. 29. Novena masses will be held at the Sto..Domingo Church until Oct. 7 at 6 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 noon, and 6 p.m. Holy Masses will also be held at 4 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 1. 

The Quezon City wide celebrations commemorate the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary La Naval de Manila as the patroness of Quezon City. 

Cubao Bishop Honesto F. Ongtioco, earlier, declared every second Sunday of October as the Solemnity of La Naval. 

Since 1646, the second Sunday of October each year has been celebrated in honor of Our Lady of La Naval. Thousands of devotees from around the country traditionally attend the holy masses and the much anticipated procession in Quezon City.

The theme for this year’s observance is “Mahal na Birhen ng La Naval: Pintakasi ng Sambayanang Kristiyano.”

The Solemnity of La Naval will be observed on Sunday, Oct. 8. Fiesta masses will be celebrated at 6 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 noon, 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m
 

The much awaited grand procession of the image of La Naval will be held at 4 p.m.
