Manila City Jail Annex PDL yields illegal drugs in 'Greyhound Operation’- PDEA

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) nabbed a Manila City Jail Annex inmate on Wednesday, Sept. 20 with P75,000 worth of illegal drugs concealed in his slippers.
During the 6 a.m. joint search operation, the PDEA and BJMP operatives noticed something suspicious on the sewn slippers of person deprived of liberty (PDL) Elymark dela Cruz, 25 that led them to discover 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000 and three grams of marijuana valued at P7,000.
In their continued search authorities discovered assorted drug paraphernalia and one gram of shabu placed inside a trash bin in the Manila City Jail Annex dormitory.
Reports disclosed that dela Cruz was jailed for illegal possession of dangerous drugs, robbery and illegal possession of firearm and is facing another case for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
The operation was carried out by the PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (NCR) K9 Unit, PDEA RO NCR Seaport Interdiction Unit (SIU) and the BJMP Manila City Jail Annex personnel.
