NPA squad leader, fighter surrender


BUTUAN CITY – A New People’s Army (NPA) squad commander and member surrendered to the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) and officially presented here on Thursday, September 14.

Surigao del Sur PPO Director Police Col. Harry B. Domingo identified the surrenderers as “Ka Jolly Boy,” also known as “Richard” or “Jay-ar,” squad leader of Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad (SRSDG) Southland, Periodic Status Report-listed under Guerilla Front Committee (GFC) 19 of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC), and “Ka Bros,” 41, former regular fighter of Squad 1, Guerilla Front Committee (GFC) 30 of the CPP-NPA-NEMRC and non-PSR listed.

Domingo said they are now under investigation. “Custodial debriefing and processing for possible enrollment to Enhanced-Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) also took place for them to avail of the government peace and development program,” Domingo said.

“With the encouragement and continuous effort of Surigao del Sur police force, their surrender is a manifestation of weakening Communist Terrorist Group,” Domingo said, adding “I encourage all those who are still in arm struggle to surrender to end the local communist armed conflict.”
