Rider in Makati road rage incident slapped with additional charges

The motorcycle rider in the viral road rage video in Makati City is now facing additional charges after police officials found out that he is posing as a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and using several other fake IDs under his name.

According to Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Mariano, Southern Police District (SPD) director, suspect Angelito Rencio, presented several fake IDs of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and AFP following his surrender.

"Thus, the investigator-on-case (IOC) took him into custody for violation of R.A. 493 (An Act To Prohibit The Use Or Conferring Of Military Or Naval Grades Or Titles By Or Upon Persons Not In The Service Of The Armed Forces Of The Philippines or The Philippine Constabulary, To Regulate The Wearing, Use, Manufacture and Sale of Insignias, Decorations And Medals, Badges, Patches And Identification Cards Prescribed For The Said Armed Forces or Constabulary, And For Other Purposes) and Art. 172 of RPC (falsification of public documents)," Mariano said.

Intelligence operatives led by Police Maj. Danilo Oamil also served to Rencio a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Maricris Pahate-Felix of Regional Trial Court Branch 133, Makati City for the crime of qualified theft.

Earlier, Rencio was charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Art. 177 (usurpation of authority), and Art. 151 (resistance and disobedience to a person in authority) of the Revised Penal Code.

According to the report, Rencio introduced himself as a member of the intelligence division of the AFP after PSSg. Marsan Dolipas subdued and disarmed him during their altercation in the middle of the road.
