Pasig LGU recognizes PWD sports medalists


The Pasig City local government cited the exemplary achievements of five Pasigueño persons with disabilities (PWDs) who have won medals in an international competition.

Princess Feliz Garcia, Noel Celwyn Cartera, Flordeliza Baento, Kamille Therese Tingzon, and Robin Andrew Conanan paid a courtesy call and were welcomed by Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto at the city hall.

The athletes recently won many medals in the Special Olympics World Games 2023 held in Berlin, Germany.

Garcia won gold for swimming 50M backstroke and a bronze medal for freestyle swimming. Cartera also won gold for swimming 50M backstroke. Baento won a gold medal for the 50M run. Tingzon got a silver medal for the Bocce women’s singles event. Conanan finished fourth place in the Bocce men’s singles event.

The athletes, who belong to the Special Olympics program, thanked the local government for supporting sports opportunities for youth with intellectual disabilities.

Previously, the local government partnered with Special Olympics Pilipinas for their youth athletes program, which gives Pasigueños with intellectual disabilities chances to train and compete in national and global competitions.
