These two female rebel returnees were part of the Senior High School Class of 2023 of the Guihulngan City National High School.
The Army attended the graduation with the theme “K to 12 Graduates: Molded Through a Resilient Educational Foundation” at the school in Barangay Poblacion on Sunday, July 9.
These two former rebels passed the Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Assessment and Certification process of Alternative Learning System (ALS) on Nov. 8, 2021, according to the Army.
It was made possible through the collaboration of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Guihulngan City, Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC), and the 62nd IB.
Meanwhile, 10 other former NPA rebels in the city also finished their 15-day training at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II on July 6.
This is an additional livelihood given to rebel returnees as they start anew in the society, according to the 62nd IB. Each participant during the training received P160 per day.
Ten other participants from ELCAC barangays of Guihulngan City that were previously cleared from the influence of NPA also underwent the same training.
