PRO-8 offers P200,000 reward for cop who gunned down ex-GF in Tacloban


TACLOBAN CITY - The Police Regional Office-8 has offered a P200,000 reward to any individual who can provide vital and reliable information that will lead to the immediate arrest of Police Senior Master Sgt. Van Gregory Benitez.

"PRO-8 assures the protection and confidentiality of any informant that will come forward to help the PNP serve the ends of justice for the victim and her family," Police Brig. Gen. Vincent Calanoga, PRO-8 director, said.

Benitez allegedly gunned down his ex-girlfriend Jessica Durana last May 3 in Barangay 43, Quarry District here.

Durana sustained multiple bullet wounds in different parts of her body when she was shot beside her mother while walking towards the pathway.

The victim's mother said the suspect suddenly appeared from behind and stood in front of them.

Benitez  pointed a short firearm towards the victim and fired several shots while uttering the word, "Sorry, Jessica."

The suspect casually walked away towards the exit of the pathway in Barangay 44 and disappeared.
