2,000 residents benefit from medical mission in Lanao del Sur


SAGUIARAN, Lanao del Sur – More than 2,000 residents here have benefitted from a medical mission at the municipal gym on Monday, June 26, held as part of the Araw ng Saguiaran Festival 2023 with the theme "Ummah (Muslim community) progress through unity."

Several activities were held to mark the event from June 19 to June 27 – 2.9-kilometer color fun run, parade and open house, reading of the Qur'an contest, blood-letting and parlor games, Mutya ng Saguiaran led by the Department of Education on different levels, dance group, choral singing, oration, and declamation, and a medical mission.

Saguiaran Mayor Jalalodin M. Angin said he has been delivering health services through medical missions to his constituents even before he was elected as local chief executive.

Angin was a former barangay chairman in Poblacion here.

A resident, Naifah Kimal, thanked the LGU for the medical mission.

Angin commended Amai Pakpak Medical Center chief Dr. Shalimar Rakiin for supporting the medical mission.

He said this benefitted his constituents, especially those living in the hinterlands, who find difficult to go to Marawi or Iligan City for treatment.

Angin said one of his administration's priorities is to improve healthcare services for is people. In line with this, he plans to build a district hospital.

Integrated Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Alinader Minalang backed the mayor’s plan to build a district hospital.
