Pasig City holds civic parade ahead of 450th anniversary 


A day before the city formally celebrates its 450th anniversary, the Pasig local government hosted a civic parade on Saturday morning, July 1, as a tribute to the offices, departments, organizations, and other affiliated sectors that have contributed to the city's growth and success.

One by one, the participants of the parade, led by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr, Rep. Roman Romulo, and the 11th City Council, carried ribbons and balloons along with tarpaulins introducing their office and organization.

Mutya ng Pasig Grand Winner Erika Ballon and first runner-up Shekainah Tamayo also graced the civic parade.

Accompanied by the Pasig City Band, dancing majorettes and color guards, the groups marched from the Sta. Clara de Montefalco Parish, through Rotonda at Barangay Kapasigan, until they reached the Pasig City Hall Quadrangle where the host eagerly introduced the groups to the city officials.

Among the government departments included in the parade were the Office of the City Mayor (OCM), Office of the Vice Mayor (OVM), Office of Rep. Roman Romulo, City Council and the City Council Secretariat, Office of the City Administrator (OCA), City Transportation Development and Management Office (CTDMO), Peace and Order Department (POD), Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO), Tricycle Operation and Regulatory Office (TORO), Ugnayan ng Pasig, People's Law Enforcement Board (PLEB), City Health Department (CHD),

Representing the local education unit were the Special Children's Education Institute (SCEI), Pasig City Girls Scout Council, Pasig City Science High School (PCSHS), Pasig City Science High School, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP), Barangay Computer Literacy Program (BCLP), Pasig City Institute of Science and Technology (PCIST), Youth Development Council (YDC), the Pasig City Library, and other public schools in the city.

Members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) - Pasig also walked the parade, representing and carrying the signs for the national government agencies such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) - Pasig, Pasig City police, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - Pasig, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Postal Corporation, Commission on Elections (Comelec), Regional Trial Court (RTC), Office of the City Prosecutor, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Bureau of Internal Revenue (IR).

Barangay women's organizations, homeowners associations (HOAs), and religious groups also joined the parade.

The local government is inviting the public to join the thanksgiving Mass that
will be held at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral at 6 a.m., as well as the Thanksgiving Night or "Gabi ng Pasasalamat" concert from 5 p.m. onwards on Sunday, July 2 for "Araw ng Pasig."
