Marge Organo is definitely no stranger to the art of sculpture. Her numerous accolades brought about by her superb talent and craftsmanship in sculpting glass will be showcased once again in her latest exhibition, “Iridescence” at Galerie Joaquin BGC, comprising an oeuvre of iridescent imagery that stems from her sentiment and experience as a woman, a mother, and a devoted follower.

The exhibit introduces shapes, styles, and forms anew as the artist passionately explores different techniques in glassmaking, creating new and exciting concepts. “I discovered new tools, new shapes that I can make, and I was able to come up with new uses from the tools that I have,” Organo explains. An artful passion for brilliance, magnificence, and grandeur – elements that are indeed dignified in her glass works.

We are also reintroduced to her signature portrayals of the female figure, the mother and child, and her personal favorite, the Santo Niños. She considers these subjects timeless, as the artist always tries to challenge herself in devotion to the craft itself. “I derive my style from other sculptures that aren’t made of glass, like those made of wood … I’m challenging myself by trying to make something out of glass that has already been done in wood sculpture, but in a different technique like glass casting,” Organo mentions.

In essence, “Iridescence” represents Organo’s adherence to life and its innate glory. The artist invites the viewers to experience life through layered presentations of light, color, and complexity – providing real yet metaphysical displays of existence, lived brilliantly and beautifully.

Never resting on her accomplishments, Marge Organo remains persistent in creating art that is experiential, interactive and constantly changing, and in these ways, may bring about a state of reverie or trance in the viewer. Though mostly poetic in conception, her works have a strong scientific bent; and resolving technically difficult problems in glass sculpture-making has been a hallmark of her lustrous career.
