Jobseekers flock to Lucena City June 12 job fair


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Hundreds of jobseekers flocked to the Kalayaan job fair at SM City-Lucena here on Independence Day.

The job fair participated in by government agencies and private companies was led by the Department of Labor and Employment-Quezon and City Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

Forty local and overseas companies with no pending labor cases were cleared to be part and allowed to hire applicants, City PESO head Maria Cristina Encina said.

Encina added that the job fair is targeting 800 applicants to be hired and 200 hired on the spot for residents here.

Councilor Elizabeth Sio, city council labor and employment panel head, said that her committee and the DOLE is monitoring workers’ conditions and payment of wages in the city.

Job fairs were also held in other parts of Region 4-A (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area) on Independence Day.
