Manila LGU commends choir, karate-do champions

The Manila City Council passed resolutions on Tuesday, June 6, commending champions of the international choir and karate competitions last May 21 and 26.

The city council presided over by Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto recognized Pearl Xandy Baoas, a resident of District 2, and the choir group Los Cantanes de Manila (LCDM) for bagging the titles during the global competitions.

In a resolution authored by Second District Councilor Ruben “Doctor J” Buenaventura, the council congratulated Baoas for winning gold and bronze medals during the Formosa Cup Karate International Championship 2023 held at the Ming Dao University in Taiwan last May 21.

During the same session, another resolution was authored by Third District Councilor Arlene “Maile” Atienza to express their gratitude to the LCDM, for winning various awards at the 18th International Chamber Choir Competition in Germany last May 26.

LCDM won first prize for the mixed choir category and special awards for Outstanding, Characteristic Vocal Presentation, Best Interpretation of a Romantic Choral Work, and Public’s Choice Award.

The council said the choir group also took part in this year’s International Masterclass for Choral Conductors held in Germany last May 31 to June 4 and was also featured in German press.
