Uncle of Western Visayas’ most wanted person shot dead in Negros


BACOLOD CITY – The uncle of  the No. 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas was gunned down by unidentified perpetrators on a motorcycle in Barangay Efegenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, May 19.

The victim was identified as Dennis Tribaco, 49, a barangay watchman or tanod of Barangay Zone 10, Talisay City.

Police Capt. Abegael Donasco, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the victim is the uncle of 26-year-old Ivan Tribaco, the Top 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas.

Donasco said the victim, accompanied by his wife, was driving a tricycle to the airport to fetch their daughter when they were tailed by the perpetrators.

The victim was shot in the forehead and was declared dead in a hospital, according to the police.

The gun attack happened about a week after Ivan was arrested on May 12 for his alleged link to the killing of a mother and her two sons in Barangay Matab-ang last March.

Ivan is also the eighth most wanted person on the provincial level and sixth on the city level, according to the police.

He was identified as one of the suspects in the shooting by an eight-year-old victim before he passed away in a hospital, according to Donasco.

Policemen are probing if the death of Dennis could be linked to the crime allegedly committed by his nephew.

Donasco said they are looking for at least two more suspects in the March.

She also said that they have yet to establish the motives of the two incidents.
