“This is part of our contribution to the objective of Iloilo City as a sustainable city with sustainable initiatives,” said Roel Castro, president and chief executive officer of MORE Power, this city’s power distributor.

“Since we are in the electric distribution business, we thought of bringing this in," added Castro.

An e-bus does not emit smoke or have noise pollution, unlike vehicles fueled by gasoline or diesel.

MORE Power launched an initial e-bus in a ceremony attended by Iloilo City government officials led by Mayor Jerry Treñas.

"Thrilled to ride the eco-friendly e-bus of MORE Power. Let's all do our part in reducing our carbon footprint and switch to sustainable transportation options," said Treñas.

MORE Power is set to bring in a minimum of 10 e-buses here this year.

An e-bus can carry 20 passengers and has a range of 100 kilometers when fully charged.
