Darryl Yap took to social media recently to make public his rejection of an invite from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS).
In the missive he sent to the academy, he explained that this is mainly because he cannot "participate in an event where my films will be presented and adjudicated alongside works that I personally do not believe to be deserving of recognition."
Darryl cited in particular Vince Tañada's film "Katips," deeming it "the cinematic equivalent of a surgical operation gone wrong."
In the caption, Darryl also explained why he had to make it public.
The FAMAS as with Vince are both silent on the issue.
