PASSI CITY – Adrian Wong shone the brightest among the league’s rising stars.

The Magnolia gunner caught fire in the final frame, exploding for 18 of his 29 points to lead the Greats to a 158-138 triumph over the Stalwarts in the Rookie-Sophomore-Juniors game at the City of Passi Arena, on Friday, March 10, here.

Wong spearheaded the second half breakaway with a barrage of long bombs from three and four point territory to lead the Richard Del Rosario-mentored team to a victory and also bag the RSJ game Most Valuable Player honor along with P30,000 prize.

Javi Gomez de Llano added 30 points – 18 of which he poured in the first half as the Greats took a slim 65-63 lead at the half. Ato Ular and Justin Arana added 23 points apiece while Aaron Black chipped in 18.

What was expected a free-flowing and highlight-filled match made a serious turn at the start of the fourth quarter when the Greats unloaded a 16-4 blast to take a commanding 124-119 lead.

The Stalwarts tried to make a comeback behind the efforts of Encho Serrano who exploded for 40 points and Joshua Munzon who added 32 points. Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser also contributed to the run and finished with 21.

Timely baskets, however, from Wong, Ular and Arana kept the Stalwarts at bay as the jampacked arena was given a treat.
