Police net over P400K worth of illegal drugs in Marikina, Pasig buy-busts


Over P400,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs were seized by operatives of the Eastern Police District (EPD) in two separate buy-bust operations in the cities of Pasig and Marikina on March 9 and 10 respectively.

Police from the EPD’s District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) arrested two men for selling and possession of illegal drugs on Esguerra Street in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

Maj. Darwin Guerrero, acting chief of the EPD’s DDEU, identified the suspects as “Habid,” 28, and “Saddam,” 32, both security guards.

Prior to the buy-bust operation, extensive surveillance was conducted by the EPD in cooperation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The arrest was made at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9.

Police confiscated three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected drugs, weighing 15.65 grams, with an estimated market value of P106,420.

The suspects were brought to the Rizal Medical Center for medical examination. They were turned over to the office of the EPD-DDEU for documentation.

The evidence was taken by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Forensic Group for examination.

The suspects are detained at the Pasig City Custodial Facility. They are facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165).

Meanwhile, Marikina City police nabbed a female drug pusher at Ditchoy Street, Barangay San Roque, Marikina City at around 9:30 a.m. on March 10.

Marikina Police chief Col. Earl Castillo identified the suspect as “Leslie”, 30.

Police recovered from the suspect 12 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing 45 grams, worth around P306,000.

The evidence was taken to the Camp Crame Forensic Division for examination.

The suspect is in the custody of the Marikina City Police Station. She is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

EPD Director Wilson Asueta lauded the police forces of Marikina and Pasig in their efforts supporting the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

“This exemplary accomplishment highlights our outstanding goal to intensify our campaign against illegal drugs and end the root causes of such criminality within Metro East,” Asueta said.

“We will guarantee that those who do illegal activities will be charged in accordance with the rule of law,” he added.
