Bike shop robber nabbed in QC

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives arrested a man who allegedly stole over P100,000 worth of items from a bike shop in Barangay Talipapa, Quezon City early Wednesday morning, March 8.

Lt. Col. Mark Janis Ballesteros, QCPD Talipapa Station (PS 3) commander, identified the suspect as Joseph Boa Sabugo, 32, of Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

Police said Michael Diaz, a staff of JBL Bike Shop on Mindanao Ave. in Brgy. Talipapa, who slept in the shop after working overtime, woke up at around 1:26 a.m. on Wednesday due to an unusual noise.

He then saw the suspect roaming around and carrying a duffle bag owned by the shop’s mechanic. The witness pretended to be asleep until Sabugo fled.

Diaz called up Anthony Bautista, the shop’s owner, and informed him about the incident.

They reported the robbery to the PS 3 after they conducted an inventory and found out that several items in the shop were missing.

The cops showed pictures of individuals with criminal charges and records to  Diaz who was able to identify Sabugo as the man who robbed the shop.

Operatives from the PS 3 immediately went to the suspect’s residence and arrested him.

Recovered from the suspect were one HP Pavilion laptop worth P45,000; an Acer Aspire Laptop worth P35,000; three pieces of Casio G-shock worth P24,000.00, a black belt bag containing two pliers and two screws.

QCPD said Sabugo has a previous case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect will be charged with robbery before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
