Residents of Metro Manila and several parts of Luzon may expect a generally fair weather condition in the next 24-hour period, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday morning, March 4.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” continues to affect parts of Luzon, particularly Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Apayao, Aurora, and Quezon.

Individuals residing in these areas may experience cloudy skies with rains. They were also told to be vigilant against flash floods and rain-induced landslides.

While the northeast monsoon also affects Metro Manila, the state weather bureau said only light rains may prevail in the region.

“[Ang] nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, kabilang na dyan ang Metro Manila ay generally fair weather condition pa rin ang mararanasan. Maliban na lang yan sa tiyansa ng mahinang pag-ulan dulot ng amihan (The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, may experience a generally fair weather condition. That is except for the possibility of light rains due to the northeast monsoon) ,” said Castañeda.

Expected temperature in Metro Manila may vary from 21℃ to 31℃.

No weather disturbance is affecting the country, but in Mindanao and the rest of Visayas, isolated rain showers may persist due to localized thunderstorms.

Key cities, particularly Metro Manila and Baguio City, may expect fair and cold weather in the next three days, but Castañeda warned that a shear line — a weather system that forms when warm and cold air masses converge — may form and cause rains in several parts of the country.
