Adamson needed an extra set to turn back Far Eastern University, 25-21, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, in UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball Saturday, March 4, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Kate Santiago dropped 18 points built on 17 attacks and an ace to help the Adamson bounce back from its five-setter beating from reigning champion National University last March 1 and improve to 2-1 in the standings.
Honey Toring and Trisha Tubu also contributed 14 and 13, respectively, while Rizza Cruz added 10 points.
Captain and setter Louie Romero was also solid with 25 excellent sets.
The Lady Falcons squandered a 17-12 lead as the Lady Tamaraws saved three set points to tie it at 24-all in the second set.
Sheila Kiseo came off the bench and fired back-to-back hits to tie the match at one set apiece.
But Adamson quickly regrouped in the third, racing to a 13-6 advantage to dictate the tempo until the fourth frame.
Tied 15-all in the fourth, Adamson unleashed its might by scoring on all angles to regain the pace.
Two consecutive kills from Trisha Tubu gave the Lady Falcons a 22-18 cushion, forcing the Lady Tamaraws to call for time.
From there, Lucille Almonte steered Adamson to match point before FEU's Alyzza Devosora committed an attack error to close out the two-hour, two-minute contest.
"I'm very happy that we got through FEU. So, yung mga must-wins natin, kailangang we take care of business," said Adamson coach Jerry Yee.
Julianne Monares and Jovelyn Fernandez combined for 24 points, while Devosora chipped in 11 in the losing effort for FEU as it slid 1-2 in the standings.
