General Nakar, Infanta towns in Quezon declared insurgency-free

QUEZON – Two more towns here have been declared insurgency-free as a result of a concerted effort of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Local Government Units (LGU) and its stakeholders.

Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) reported that the towns of Infanta and Gen. Nakar are now ‘insurgency-free’ following the joint military and government declaration and signing of the documents as an area with ‘Stable Internal Peace and Security’ (SIPS) on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Previously, Macalelon, Gumaca, Unisan, Perez, Quezon, Alabat, San Narciso were already declared as insurgency-free municipalities.

According to the report, since the strict implementation of Executive Order 70, a lot of active rebels surrendered to the authorities and benefited from the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program [ECLIP].

There were no incidents of terrorist-initiated violence, thus a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among the AFP, PNP and the LGU involved was signed as part of the declaration of SIPS.

Gen. Nakar mayor Eliseo Rusol Sr., and Infanta mayor Filipina Grace America expressed their gratitude not only to the gallant and dedicated armed forces but also the partner agencies and the people of Infanta and General Nakar for working so hard to achieve the shared dream of safe, secure, and communist-free environment.

Quezon Police director Col. Ledon Monte lauded the efforts of the units under QPPO in securing the communities from terrorist infiltration and clearing them from the enemy’s affectation throughout the years.

A safe and insurgency-free environment will prevail in the entire province. The public will now enjoy peace in their homes, while the towns become desired destinations for investors and foreign tourists, the report said.

“Life is beautiful and will be more beautiful in Quezon with the continuous elimination of menace in our community that hinders the peace and progress of our province, thus the road to Insurgency Free Province is along the way,” the reports said.
