A two-storey ambulatory care unit building will be constructed at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Health Service Command (AFPHSC) Compound in Camp Victoriano K. General Andres Centino, AFP Chief of Staff, and Department of Health (DOH) Assistant Sec. Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the medical facility on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

“This project would be another manifestation of the robust collaboration between the AFP and other agencies of government,” Centino said.

The project aims to provide a more conducive facility for patients and medical personnel of the AFP. It will be undertaken through the Health Facility Enhancement Program of the DOH as part of the Philippine Health Agenda 2016 to 2022.

The ambulatory care unit offers same-day care to patients. This is where patients are assessed, diagnosed, treated, and released on the same day without the need for an overnight admission at the hospital.

The AFP Chief noted that the new medical facility will uplift the morale and welfare of military personnel and their dependents.

He also commended the AFPHSC for sustaining “excellent services” and for their “steadfast commitment” to care for AFP personnel’s health and welfare which “[contributes] to the nation’s security and stability.”

The AFP has yet to determine when the facility will be finished.
