Adamson University on Tuesday, Feb. 28, confirmed the death of one of its students after a reported disappearance.

In an official statement, Adamson said it has conducted its own investigation and is working with the authorities to further look into the incident.

“We strongly urge the community to refrain from sharing unverified information and help us pray for the student’s bereft family during this difficult time,” it added.

Although the University Administration did not name the said student, its autonomous and official student publication — The Adamson Chronicle — identified him as John Matthew Salilig, a 24-year-old Chemical Engineering learner who went missing on Feb. 18, 2023. Salilig was reportedly last seen at Jac Liner Bus Terminal in Manila.

While grieving for his untimely passing, the University strongly reminded all Adamsonians to be “vigilant” with their activities whether inside or outside the campus.
