Adamson made quick work of University of the East, 25-19, 25-9, 25-5, to open its campaign on a bright note in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The Lady Falcons didn't waste any moment particularly in the last two frames where they exploited the Lady Warriors on both ends to clinch the victory in just 63 minutes.

Lucille Almonte steered Adamson by finishing with 12 points built on 10 attacks and two aces, while rookie Trisha Tubu had 11 markers.

After their close duel in the first set, the Lady Falcons would go on to hold the Lady Warriors to a single-digit production in the second frame, 25-9.

The third set was no different, if not worse, with Adamson quickly rising to an 8-3 lead that eventually turned into a 21-3 cushion.

Before Percae Nieva and KC Cepada could attempt to get something going on for UE with back-to-back crosscourt kills, Kate Santiago would put Adamson to match point with an off-the-block kill before Ayesha Juegos blocked Janeca Lana to seal the victory.

“Good game between two teams. the following game, sana ma-sustain lang,” said Adamson head coach Jerry Yee.

Lana and Cepada paced UE with seven points as the rest of the team was limited to single digits.

In the earlier play, the UE Red Warriors marked the return of the UAAP men’s volleyball with a sweep of Adamson, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14, after three years of absence from the league’s schedule.
