Some 150 differently abled athletes are competing in the 1st Paralympics Games at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Grandstand in Zamboanga City starting on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Sports events held on the first day include table tennis, athletics, sitting volleyball, and goalball. Other games are bowling, chess, and swimming.
The four-day paralympics is organized by the Persons with Disabilities Unit (PDAU) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the PWD Federation of Zamboanga City.
The activity kicked off the 86th Dia de Zamboanga celebration on Sunday, Feb. 26.
