An earthquake with a magnitude measuring 3.2 hit Masbate around 2:09 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

State seismologists said this seismic event is an aftershock of the “very strong” magnitude 6.0 quake that struck Batuan, Masbate on Feb. 16, 2023.

Based on the initial bulletin issued by Phivolcs, the 3.2-magnitude tremor was traced 11 kilometers (km) southeast of Batuan, Masbate. It was “slightly felt” at Intensity II in Batuan, Masbate. Instrumental Intensity II was also recorded in Masbate City.

This quake is neither expected to trigger more aftershocks nor cause damage, said Phivolcs.
