The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed and opened the P470.11 million Solano-Bayombong Bypass Road in Nueva Vizcaya.
In a statement, the DPWH said the road will serve as an alternate route to the Cagayan Valley Region.
DPWH Region 2 Director Reynaldo C. Alconcel said the 6.202-kilometer Solano-Bayombong Bypass Road has four lanes with a 13.4-meter carriageway width and 300-millimeter thickness concrete.
He disclosed that the new alternate highway is now regarded as the longest bypass road in Cagayan Valley Region.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan stressed “the opening of this new road ensures the faster delivery of goods to and from Nueva Vizcaya and also help decongest traffic along the busy Daang Maharlika.”
The bypass road is equipped with a traffic signal system, light posts, lay-by areas, sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian lanes and is expected to provide a more comfortable and safer travel to an estimated 10,000 travelers daily.
On the trade and industry aspect, the new bypass road facilitates the transport of agricultural and commercial products to the major economic hubs in the region while creating opportunities for industrial development that provides employment and livelihood source for the locals.
“Funded under the Regular Infrastructure Program and implemented under Multi Year Contracting Authority (MYCA) for Fiscal Year 2018-2022, the scenic super highway type alternate road will also serve as tourism and recreational area for residents and visitors,’’ the DPWH said in a statement.
