NVSU: License plates in Alameda getaway vehicle fake

The Nueva Vizcaya State University in the town of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya has denied reports that the government license plates SFN-713 found attached to the getaway vehicle in the ambush of Aparri, Cagayan Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda were stolen from them.

Police investigators had earlier found out that these license plates were registered to a vehicle impounded at the NVSU in Bambang and claimed that these were stolen.

In a statement, the NVSU said: "This is to strongly refute the unverified and baseless claim in the media that the plates have been stolen from NVSU. Given these facts, the University is certain that the alleged plates spotted in the crime scene are forged plates."

It said that the plates have been stored with the LTO-Nueva Vizcaya Office since March 5, 2019.

The NVSU said they checked with LTO-Nueva Vizcaya the day after the ambush on Monday, Feb. 20, and discovered that two plates were found intact in their safekeeping.
