2 suspects yield P578,000 shabu in Caloocan City


Members of the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) seized P578,000 worth of suspected shabu and collared a man and a woman in two anti-illegal drug operations in the city on Monday, Feb. 20.

The CCPS Station Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) identified the suspect as Mark Anthony Tan, 38, of Tondo, Manila.

Police said the buy-bust operation against Tan was launched on 1st Street, Barangay 120, in Caloocan City at around 8:40 p.m.

Tan was arrested after he sold a sachet of alleged shabu to an operative who posed as a buyer.

Authorities recovered more or less 35 grams of shabu worth P238,000, and the buy-bust money from the suspect

Meanwhile, a woman was nabbed by the CCPS on Phase 12, Riverside Barangay 188, Tala, North Caloocan on the same day after she yielded 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000.

Police identified the suspect as Kaironisa Obinay, 45, of the said barangay.

The CCPS deployed personnel to the area after they received a tip from an informant about a group of individuals engaged in illegal drug activities in the area at around 10 p.m.

The policemen saw the suspect receiving a sachet of shabu from an unidentified man.

Police approached them and managed to arrest Obinay. However, her cohorts in the illegal drug trade managed to escape.

Authorities are now looking into the identities of Obinay's cohorts.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said
