Main suspect in ambush-slaying of Maguindanao police chief killed after resisting arrest


TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat – The principal suspect in the ambush-slaying of a police chief in Maguindanao was killed after he resisted arrest during a law enforcement operation conducted by police and military operatives on Saturday, Feb. 18 in the city.

Police Regional Office-12 director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said Karim Hashim alias commander ‘Boy Jacket’ of the militant Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters was gunned down after he shot it out with the arresting lawmen in Barangay New Isabela, this city.

Hashim was tagged as the principal suspect in the killing of PLt. Reynaldo Samson, chief of Ampatuan police in Maguindanao and his driver PCpl. Salipuden Endad.

Lt. Samson and his driver were waylaid by armed men led by Hashim and Abdulnasser Guianid in Barangay Kapinpilan, Ampatuan on August 30, 2022.

Two other policemen were injured during the attack.

The victims, aboard their patrol car, were on their way to serve an arrest warrant against the suspects who are facing strings of robbery cases.
