Caloocan gov’t, MMDA launch ‘Adopt-A-Park’ project

The Caloocan City government and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) launched the “Adopt-A-Park” project at Caloocan Nature Park in Barangay 179, on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Adopt-A-Park is an MMDA project that was conceptualized in 2021. It aims to develop or rehabilitate existing open spaces in Metro Manila cities.

"Sa pamamagitan po ng Adopt-A-Park program ng MMDA, mabilis po nating nagawa ang naturang proyekto upang mapaganda at maaayos pa ang ibang bahagi ng Caloocan Nature Park (Through the MMDA's Adopt-A-Park program, we were able to quickly beautify and repair other parts of Caloocan Nature Park)," Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan said.

He thanked the MMDA for the opportunity to collaborate in rehabilitating the city's nature park and developing more green open spaces for the city residents.

"Maraming salamat kina MMDA Chairman Romando Artes at MMDA General Manager Popoy Lipana na naging katuwang natin sa naturang proyekto (Thanks to MMDA Chairman Romando Artes and MMDA General Manager Popoy Lipana who have been our partners in this project)," he expressed.

Malapitan said the program seeks to further improve the said park and utilize its remaining 0.78 hectares.

He also reiterated the importance of consistency in developing the city's open spaces.

“The city government shall continue to be a steward of the environment and conserve its natural resources,” the mayor said.
