Muntinlupa records 33 dengue cases in nearly 6 weeks 


Muntinlupa tallied 33 cases of dengue from January to Feb. 7 this year which are higher compared to the same period last year.

Data from the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) showed that of the 33, seven were recorded in Barangay Putatan, followed by Alabang, six; Ayala Alabang and Poblacion, five each; Tunasan and Cupang, four each; Bayanan and Buli, one each; and Sucat, zero.

During the same period last year, Muntinlupa tallied four cases. Compared to the current data, it increased by 725 percent. No new cases were detected from Feb. 8 to 10.

Based on the total population of 553,146, Muntinlupa recorded a dengue attack rate of 0.6 per 10,000 population.

The CHO has reminded the public of the 4S Strategy against dengue:

- Search and Destroy

- Self-Protection

- Seek immediate consultation

- Say "YES" to space spraying
