Villar: 35 investment deals with Japan to boost infra projects, jobs in PH


Senator Mark Villar on Sunday, February 12 commended President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for signing 35 investment deals with Japan during his state visit to the country.

Villar said he believes these trade agreements will further strengthen the bilateral ties between Philippines and Japan.

Villar is part of the Philippine delegation that accompanied the President to Japan during the state visit.

“The trip to Japan was totally worth it, President Bongbong was able to spearhead 35 investment deals that will benefit the Filipino people," Villar said.

Villar, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banks, said the deals included both government to government and business to business agreements that are related to infrastructure, agriculture, transportation and manufacturing.

“Together with PBBM we personally met with businessmen and private companies in Tokyo. We thank them for giving jobs to our kababayans and encouraged them to continue investing in the Philippines," the senator said.

Villar noted that Japanese companies employs about 300,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)) across multiple sectors.

This is excludes the companies that have expanded their operations in the Philippines as well.

“We are very thankful to the Japanese government and as stated by President BBM (Marcos) we will remain allies and partners towards achieving national development," he said
