Fire reignites at QC bus terminal


The fire that razed a bus terminal on Time Square St., Araneta City, Barangay Socorro, Quezon City on Thursday, Feb. 9, causing around P245,000,000 damage to property reignited on Friday afternoon, Feb. 10, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

The BFP said that the rekindled fire started at 12 noon on Friday and is currently in the first alarm status.

The fire on Thursday started at around 4:46 p.m.

It escalated to second alarm at 4:55 p.m., third alarm at around 4:56 p.m. and fourth alarm at 5:03 p.m.

The fire was declared under control at around 8:20 p.m. and was extinguished at around 10:09 p.m.

A 27-year-old fire volunteer was reported to have sustained minor injury during the blaze.

The BFP first reported that the fire allegedly started at the sanitation barracks in the area on Thursday.

In a statement, the management of Araneta City said that the operations of its Beep jeep terminal and Time Square Park were temporarily suspended due to the fire in the bus station.

They also thanked the firefighters who responded to the incident.

As of this writing, the blaze that rekindled in the area is still being contained by firefighters.
