Quezon 1st district Rep. Wilfrido Mark Enverga has promised to help raise the needs of the people of Valenzuela City's 1st district to the national government.
Enverga had this to say Tuesday, Feb. 7, a day after his designation as caretaker of Valenzuela's 1st legislative district, by the House of Representatives leadership. The House seat was previously occupied by Rex Gatchalian.
"Of course nagpapasalamat ako kay Speaker Martin , again, sa tiwalang ibinigay niya sa akin (Of course I thank Speaker Martin, again, for his trust in me)," Enverga said when asked about his new task as caretaker.
"Binabati ko rin of course are nararapat at napapanahon na nailagay at natalaga na DSWD secretary na si Secretary Rex Gatchalian (Of course I'll also greet Rex Gatchalian, whose designation as DSWD secretary is both deserved and timely)," he added.
Based on his ensuing remarks, Enverga doesn't intend to be an idle caretaker. He said he plans to link up with Rex's brother Wes, who is the mayor of Valenzuela City.
"Of course maraming trabaho, pangangailangan ang distrito. So of course ako po ay kokonsulta na sa atin pong mga local officials, partikular po si Mayor Wes Gatchalian ano. At tsaka rin po mga barangay leaders at sectoral leaders (Of course there's a lot of work to do, the needs of the district. So of course I will consult with our local officials there, particularly Mayor Wes Gatchalian)," he said.
"So syempre makakaasa po yung ating mga kababayan po ng unang distrito ng Valenzuela, na ang kanilang mga adbokasiya, mga pangangailangan na pupwede pong maitulong po natin na sila ay mailapit sa pamahalaang nasyunal ay tutulungan po natin sila (So of course our countrymen from the 1st district of Valenzuela can expect that I'll help them raise their advocacies, their needs to the national government)," he vowed.
Enverga and DSWD Secretary Gatchalian are party-mates over at the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
