MATAAS NA KAHOY, Batangas -- A construction worker died while his co-worker was injured after they were buried in a landslide while excavating for a drainage system on Monday afternoon, Feb. 6, at Purok 2, barangay Bubuyan, in this town.
The victim was identified as Elmerto Tiosan, a resident of Barangay Wawa in Batangas City, while the injured was identified as Mario Valencia, a resident of Barangay Loob, Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas.
An investigation said that at about 3:50 p.m. the victims were digging and making a drainage system in a vacant lot when the soil suddenly collapsed on them.
Tiosan died on the spot while Valencia was rescued by the responding members of the Barangay Public Safety Office (BPSO) and brought to San Jose District Hospital.
