Businessman dead, driver wounded in Batangas shooting

LEMERY, Batangas -- A 46-year-old businessman was shot dead while his driver was injured after they were shot by unidentified motor-riding assailants in front of his house in Brgy. Mayasang here on Monday evening, Feb 6.

The police identified the fatality as Frederick Casalme and his wounded driver as Kingjay Casalme, 32.

Casalme had just arrived in his house at around 9:10 p.m. and his driver was about to open the gate when the suspects on board a motorcycle arrived and suddenly shot him (Casalme) in the head and different parts of the body.

Casalme died on the spot, while Kingjay was wounded and was brought to Lady of Caysasay Medical Center.

The suspect escaped toward Tagaygay City, Cavite direction.

A follow-up investigation and operation by Lemery Municipal Police are still in progress to identify and arrest the suspects.
